Heya,
Well, I started watching Bladerunner after receiving lukewarm to hot reviews. I figure my son will "allow" me to watch 10-20 minutes a week. I recently got to the halfway point of The Last Jedi. #Winning.
When I wasn't being browbeaten by a belligerent baby I found a beatboxing AI. Now, for me, beatboxing is a 50-50 proposition, at best, but I think there's a link in here that will throw those statistics out the window.
On a cheerier note, I found a clock that tells the color; a classic Stars Wars poster in code; and why your UI design should be more Mona Lisa and less Venus-y.
Take it away, links!
๐ธ๏ธ The Cool Side of the Web
Like Gremlins, or Freddy Kreuger, this video of AI beatboxing should come with a list of warnings. ๐ค
Just don't listen to it after dark, with headphones, and never. Never. Look at the screen.
See what is directly under the Earth's sun. Especially great for European winters.
It's really cool until you hit a wide expanse of ocean and then pfft bubkus. The little globe says we've just left South America, so I guess that's the 5 minutes of sun I get this week.
The 50 best albums of 2018 according to the brains trust at NPR. ๐
I owe Bob Boilen a lot; he helped me discover at least a dozen tracks from my life's soundtrack. While NPR round-ups can sometimes suffer from too wide a focus, this is a good one to pick random albums from.
๐คฉ Visually Pleasing
Bellwoods is a distraction, a music maker, a game? ๐คท
There's a life lesson here; I can't define it, label it, or explain it. But I love it. I played with it for a long time.
You fly a kite over some reeds, maybe, which in turn creates beautiful music. Very pleasant.
โ๏ธ Tools and Resources
SculptGL is a digital sculpting web app that made me a little uncomfortable. ๐ณ
It's totally cool but I genuinely felt like I was doing something creepy, and minimized the screen anytime someone breathed.
A classic Star Wars poster gets a makeover and a parallax effect.
As I have mentioned in the past, my Star Wars share rider makes this an obligatory share.
Meta Tags: Simple name. Outstanding service.
You can just drag and drop to create the best meta tags for any channel. Some people will tell you the hammer was important, but they've never worked with meta tags. This is the most important tool ever.
Layerscape is an interactive pen of a funky canyon. ๐
This is actually another visually pleasing "thing" that defies explanation.
๐ท๏ธ Design & Development Arena
A detailed look into the state of web browsers. ๐
You could almost call it the state of Chrome because it's going to be the cockroach of the browser apocalypse. But, I'll always love Firefox.
How the canonical modes of the Renaissance are improving our UI Design.
I'm not a designer, but I loved this. The Renaissance never stops giving.
๐ฑ Slightly Terrifying
How โweird eventsโ can trick AI into hallucinating. ๐
I like how they say "Wow! AI can hallucinate." when it's clear the AI is lying.
Four billion people lack an address. Machine learning could change that.
MIT, creators of the AI psychopath, team up with Facebook, creators of new levels of mayhem and discord, to help people get off being off the grid.
I'm sure those people are super grateful.

Outro
I love that the game uses the Cyrillic script in a song's title and gives me these possible answers:
(A) Australia
(B) Canada
(C) Antartica
(D) Russia
Hold my vodka; I got this.
Well, that's the end of that chapter.
Will is cool. He also gave me a movie recommendation. Be like Will and join me on Twitter.
I'm very open to music suggestions this week. ahem My wife is introducing my son to Christmas carols, so yeah, if you'd like to help me out...
In the spirit of giving forward this to everyone on your list; naughty, nice, and indeterminate.
If this is your first time stopping by, then we'd love to sign you up over here.
Well, that's it for me this week.
